The three of us got together around the idea of mapping the Internet (at least a tiny part of it), as we wanted to make a map that wasn't based on a geographical area per se. Quite quickly, we turned to the notions of troll and scam on the Internet, thinking we could use the workshop to make a project that would make us laugh. We turned to some of Facebook's neurchi and Reddit's sub for their important yet precise content and the good dose of absurdity that goes with it (neurchi date claqué, sub breadstapledtootrees). The aim was to create a map that would reveal and dissect the content of this subreddit in the most serious way possible. The data we took from the subreddit's one-year publication history included the depth at which the chairs are immersed, the type of location in which the sub's immersed chairs are found, and the comments that go with the first data point. The immersion of the chair created debate and absurd comments within the community. Due to time constraints, we have excluded the irl location of the photos when this was mentioned, and the different types of seating (deckchair, armchair, bench, etc.) shared by the community.
